Digital Learning

At Stenhouse Primary, digital technology plays a vital role in enriching learning and preparing our pupils for life in a modern, connected world. We recognise that digital skills are essential for accessing information, communicating ideas, and developing creativity and critical thinking. By embedding technology across the curriculum, we enable learners to engage more deeply with their learning, collaborate with others, and build confidence in using a range of digital tools safely and responsibly.

Planning and Progression

To ensure a clear and progressive approach, we follow the Edinburgh Learns Digital progression, Technology benchmarks and the CfE experiences and outcomes alongside our own CRIS (Cyber Resilience and Internet Safety) progression. These frameworks support staff in planning meaningful learning experiences that build digital competence year on year, while also ensuring that pupils develop a strong understanding of how to stay safe, responsible, and respectful online. This structured approach helps ensure consistency and progression for all learners across the school.

Our Approaches

Our staff use digital technology in creative and purposeful ways to enhance teaching and learning. For example, tools such as OneNote are used to organise learning, share resources, and provide personalised feedback. Pupils use digital devices to research topics, create presentations, record and edit videos, and demonstrate their learning in a variety of engaging ways. Teachers also use technology to support different learning needs, including accessibility tools such as audio, dictation, and visual supports. Collaborative platforms allow pupils to work together, share ideas, and build confidence in communicating digitally. Through these approaches, we aim to empower every learner to become confident, capable, and responsible users of technology.
